The company said Cinemark Jacksonville Atlantic North and XD opens for some of the year’s biggest films, including “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” “Candyman,” “Free Guy,” “Malignant” and “Paw Patrol.”
“Cinemark is thrilled to be opening our third theatre in the greater Jacksonville area,” said Mark Zoradi, CEO of Plano, Texas-based Cinemark, in a news release.
“Movie fans can come and enjoy this upscale new theatre and everything it has to offer, including our fan-favorite Luxury Loungers and cutting-edge laser projection.”

• Reserved seating throughout the theater with convenient online and kiosk ticketing.
• D-BOX seats that synchronize the action on the screen with individual motion control in the seats.

Plano, Texas-based Cinemark says that as of March 31, it had 523 theaters and 5,872 screens in the U.S. and Latin America. In the U.S., it operates 325 theaters and 4,436 screens in 42 states.
Jacksonville-based Sleiman Enterprises is developing and leasing Atlantic North in two phases. Cinemark anchors the second phase.
The full Atlantic North development is more than 170 acres, including the multifamily property behind the shopping center and the undeveloped land.
The city approved site clearing Jan. 5, 2020, for almost 18 acres for the theater project.
It issued the initial construction permit Oct. 9, 2020, and has issued permits since then for almost $11.63 million in project costs.
Cinemark announced in March 2019 that it would open the theater in summer of 2020. The pandemic shutdowns that started in March 2020 affected the timing.
Theaters began reopening about a year after the shutdowns.
Atlantic North’s first phase is anchored by Belk, Academy Sports + Outdoors and LA Fitness as well as restaurants.
A RaceTrac station was built in front of the theater in the second phase.
Sleiman Enterprises said in the March 2019 news release that Cinemark brings Atlantic North to 550,000 square feet of space.
Sleiman intends to further develop the shopping center with more buildings and tenants.
