For the first time in Northeast Florida history, you can drink a beer to help someone who has a civil legal issue but cannot afford to be represented by an attorney.
Jacksonville Area Legal Aid is receiving a portion of the proceeds of sales of a new product from Intuition Ale Works that is sold in the craft brewer’s taproom Downtown.
“What’s not to love about this partnership? We are so grateful, and so thirsty, for this one-of-a-kind support. This is the coolest thing ever,” said Jim Kowalski, legal aid CEO.
The limited-edition IPA also will be available on draft Sept. 10-29 to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Sing Out Loud Festival in St. Johns County as well as in six-packs featuring JALA’s logo in select stores.
Established in 2010 in Jacksonville by owner and brewer Ben Davis, Intuition Ale Works was the first local craft brewery to can its products.
The festival is each weekend Sept. 10-26 with free performances at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre and other venues. The lineup comprises diverse music styles including R&B, bluegrass, hip-hop and indie rock.
Parquet Courts, a festival headliner, chose to donate a portion of ticket sales to JALA from a Sept. 18 performance.
JALA is a nonprofit civil legal aid law firm focused on delivering economic, social and housing justice to low-income and at-risk people and families.
