On Aug.11 we had our annual committee leaders orientation at the Jacksonville Bar Association offices. During the program committee leaders heard from 2021-22 JBA President Michael Fox Orr about his vision for our committees this year.
I was able to explain the process involved in operating a committee. There are options for conducting a committee meeting in person, virtual or hybrid, meeting location choices including the JBA offices at Wells Fargo Center and meeting times as well as for the different types of events we would like each committee to host.
We also went over the communication options available at jaxbar.org that allow committee leaders to email directly to their committee members.
Committees comprise specific practice areas and other specialized committees, including Judicial Relations, Professionalism, Pro Bono, Solo and Small Firm Practitioners, Holiday Party, Law Day and others. I encourage our members to sign up for as many committees as interest them.
If you are curious about a new practice area, attend committee meetings to learn about that area. Attending a CLE also can expand your knowledge in that area.
Participation is included in your JBA membership. Signing up for a committee will ensure that you receive specific committee communications about upcoming events.
Visit jaxbar.org to learn about and join our committees or call me at (904) 399-4486 to get started. We hope you will soon join us for one of our committee meetings.
