Ring Power Corp. is starting construction on a new headquarters office for its Phoenix Products subsidiary in the Eastside Talleyrand area.
The city approved a construction permit Feb. 23 for the estimated $800,000 construction of a 5,710-square-foot office building at 1544 E. Eighth St.
J.B. Coxwell Contracting Inc. is the parking lot contractor; Bradley’s Construction Enterprises Inc. is the building contractor; and JAA Architecture is the architect.
The new location is next to the existing Phoenix Products headquarters and manufacturing facilities at 1727 Bennett St.
The city issued a permit Nov. 12 for Realco Recycling Co. Inc. to demolish an 11,000-square-foot warehouse on the site at a cost of $40,000.
“The existing building was not large enough for our growth,” said Kevin Robbins, Ring Power Corp. executive vice president.
The existing manufacturing plant encompasses 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space on 6.5 acres.
Ring Power is based at 500 World Commerce Parkway in St. Augustine. It bought Phoenix Products, a former supplier, in 2005.
Phoenix Products makes custom generator enclosures, fuel tanks and fueling systems for standby, prime and peak-power applications.
Its website says it pioneered the use of aluminum for enclosure manufacturing, combining its corrosion resistance with the structural integrity to withstand winds up to 200 mph.
“As specialists in custom fabrications for difficult conditions and unique situations, we have satisfied thousands of customers in a variety of industries including banking, communications, data processing, governments, human services, and transportation, where performance, reliability, and longevity are critically important,” the site says.
Phoenix Products also can design fuel delivery systems tailored to user specifications.
In 1962, Ring Power became a full-line Caterpillar dealer in North Florida, and later expanded its territory to include Central Florida.
It now oversees the operations of 18 branch locations throughout Florida, including regional facilities in Tampa and Orlando and crane and forklift sales and service facilities in Pompano Beach and Miami. Ring Power also has eight facilities outside of Florida to serve specialized industries and customers.
It has more than 2,200 employees.
