Canaan Chin Baptist Church Inc. bought the former St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church of Jacksonville Florida, Inc. property in the St. Nicholas area on Feb. 12 for $1.03 million.

The deed was recorded Feb. 18, the same day NAI Hallmark announced the sale.

The property at 3850 Atlantic Blvd. was the home of St. John the Divine since 1968. It moved in a new worship center and campus at 12760 Beach Blvd. in December.

The transaction was brokered on behalf of the seller by NAI Hallmark Vice President Bryan J. Mickler and Senior Associate Luke Feldman.

The 12,404-square-foot church comprises offices, classrooms, a kitchen, an auditorium and a sanctuary with a seating capacity of about 210.

“For over 50 years, Saint John the Divine located at 3850 Atlantic Boulevard was the spiritual home for so many Greek Orthodox Christians,” Senior Priest the Rev. Nicholas Lou said in the news release.

“On a personal note, this is where my parents were married, where my children were baptized, and the church where I was ordained. So many lives were changed within the four walls of that church, and I thank all of those who worked tirelessly over the years to make it possible.

“We wish all the best to Canaan Chin Baptist Church.”

The deeds shows Canaan Chin Baptist Church address as 2000 University Blvd S.
