Frontier Airlines will offer nonstop service from Jacksonville International Airport to San Juan, Puerto Rico, starting Nov. 1, according to the Jacksonville Aviation Authority.

In a news release Aug. 3, JAA and airline representatives said Frontier will offer the flights to Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan with fares starting at $69.

The service will operate Monday, Wednesday and Friday, according to the release.

“San Juan is easily one of our most requested nonstop destinations,” JAA CEO Mark VanLoh said in the release. “Between Jacksonville’s growing business ties with San Juan to the growing Puerto Rican population in Jacksonville, we believe this flight will be incredibly popular.”

Frontier Senior Vice President of Commercial Daniel Shurz said in the release that San Juan service from Jacksonville is part of the airline’s growth strategy.

“We continue to focus on adding service to markets where our ‘Low Fares Done Right’ approach benefits customers and stimulates demand with affordable fares and convenient service,” he said.

According to JAA, travelers must purchase tickets by 11:59 p.m. Aug. 9 for the $69 promotional fares.

Blackout dates for the rates are Nov. 18-30, Dec. 18- Jan. 4 and Jan. 14-17. According to the release, a round-trip purchase is not required.

Tickets for the promotional fare must be purchased at FlyFrontier.com, according to JAA.

Frontier’s announcement comes as JAA has announced eight other nonstop flights in the past six months to Austin, Texas; Ft. Lauderdale; Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina; Los Angeles; New Orleans; New York City’s LaGuardia Airport; St. Louis; and Washington D.C.’s Reagan Airport.
