A second Crumbl Cookies store is planned in Jacksonville.
The first area location for the national cookies and ice cream company will open in Pablo Creek Plaza East. The city is reviewing a permit application for a second one in Mandarin Oaks.
Franchise owner Sharmain Powell wants to open the 1,455-square-foot Mandarin store at 11406 San Jose Blvd., No. 3.
The permit application shows tenant improvements of $192,440 to the space. It lists Sharmain Sweets Inc. of St. Augustine as the business owner.
Powell said by email April 8 she hopes to open in June. She said she owns the franchise for that location and would like to open at least two more.
“It has always been my dream to have my own business. I have decorated cakes and baked goods for over 30 years,” Powell said.
As for Mandarin: “I love the atmosphere of Mandarin and would like to be more involved in the community. I look forward to meeting the local people and being able to provide jobs in this area.”
Nicholas Lai, a member of Brother Bakers Jacksonville LLC, owns the Pablo Creek Plaza East franchise.
There, the city issued a permit in February for J. Lane Construction LLC to build-out 1,816 square feet of space for Crumbl Cookies at a cost of $188,000.
The address is 3267 Hodges Blvd. at southeast Beach and Hodges boulevards.
Lai said April 11 it should open in June.

Logan, Utah-based Crumbl cookies and ice cream, which started in 2017, features a rotating menu of cookies to provide four specialty flavors weekly, with warm milk chocolate chip and chilled sugar always available.
Other flavors include Reese’s Chip, salted caramel cheesecake, chilled pina colada and maple cinnamon roll, for example.
Ice creams, available in half-pints, include cookies & cream, salted caramel, s’mores, lemon poppy seed, chocolate cake, vanilla, Biscoff, buckeye brownie, churro, muddy buddy and raspberry cheesecake.
Drinks include milk and water.
The crumblcookies.com site says prices vary, but in-store cookies are $3 each, with $10 for a box of four and $25 for a party box of 12.
Crumbl Cream is $3 for a single and $10 for four-pack.
The site shows curbside prices as $3.58 for a single, $11.48 for a four-pack, $15.98 for a six-pack and $29.88 for a party box of a dozen.
The Crumbl cream prices also vary, starting at $3.58 for a half-pint curbside and $11.48 for four.
The site says cookies can be ordered for curbside, delivery and shipping.
Store hours are 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday and until midnight Friday-Saturday. Stores are closed Sundays.
Crumbl has 148 locations in 28 states.
Its five Florida stores are in Coral Springs, Lake Mary, Lutz, Pembroke Pines and Winter Springs.
