The city issued a permit Oct. 12 for ShayCore L.L.C. to build the 18-unit Ashley Street Container Lofts at a cost of $1.52 million.
Jacksonville-based JWB Real Estate Capital is developing the three-story livable shipping container project at 412 E. Ashley St. in the Cathedral District of Downtown.
Deliveries of the containers started Sept. 18.
JWB President Alex Sifakis said Sept. 21 that project contractor ShayCore is delivering containers to the site with a partial build-out complete.

Construction for each 320-square-foot container apartment will cost about $90,000, Sifakis said in August. Rent will be $700-$800 a month and JWB plans to start leasing in November.
Each unit will have full appliances, including a washer-dryer; granite counters; and high-end light and plumbing fixtures.
Sifakis said Sept. 21 the project will be completed in the first quarter of 2021.
Plans call for the west exterior wall of the apartments to feature a mural. There will be a courtyard-patio area between the containers and bike racks.
Sifakis said for accessibility compliance, the first-floor units have bathrooms at the end of the unit, so there are no balconies on those.
