Autobahn Indoor Speedway laid off 62 employees and Beaver Chevrolet Inc. laid off up to 23 staff members in Jacksonville, according to filings with the state.

They filed the announcements with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity as part of the Worker Adjustment and Training Notification Act.

Autobahn partner Michael Greene wrote to the state March 26 on behalf of Tampa-based Team Member Services LLC that the Autobahn layoff is expected to be temporary.

The layoff took effect March 27. The indoor speedway is at 6601 Executive Park Court N. in South Jacksonville.

Greene cited “the unforeseen circumstances regarding the COVID-19 virus.”

Kimberlee Ragsdale, controller with Beaver Chevrolet LLC, notified Mayor Lenny Curry of the layoff and filed the letter with the state.

The letter states 23 people will be laid off  but lists the names of 22. Beaver Chevrolet is at 3494 Philips Highway.

Ragsdale wrote the employees would be laid off March 26 or April 9.

“As you know, the COVID-19 virus recently reached pandemic proportions and the federal government and many states have declared a state of emergency,” Ragsdale wrote.

“These sudden and unexpected circumstances adversely affected our business operations and, unfortunately, prevented us from providing notice sooner,” said the letter.
