Simon Property Group will reopen its three Northeast Florida malls May 4 – St. Johns Town Center, The Avenues mall and the St. Augustine Premium Outlets with reduced hours and added safety measures.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday. Simon said that allows for enhanced sanitizing and disinfecting.
Employees, contractors and vendors will need to take their temperatures before coming to work.
They cannot come to work if it exceeds 100.4 degrees or they have flu-like symptoms. They must wear masks and are encouraged to wash their hands and maintain a 6-foot distance from co-workers and shoppers.
The mall recommends that its tenants follow the protocols.
Shoppers are encouraged to screen themselves before coming to the mall, wear a mask and wash their hands frequently while shopping.
Sanitizing stations will be available throughout the malls.
Simon said it would ensure the overall property occupancy doesn’t exceed one person per 50-square-feet of space. Each tenant will be responsible for managing those targets in their own spaces.
For malls with food courts, seating will be limited and spaced out to encourage social distancing. No reusable items like trays, cups or utensils will be available. Restrooms will be spaced so that every other urinal or sink is blocked off.
Signs will be used on the floor to reduce foot traffic and social distancing markers will be used where needed to manage lines.
