Citizens, FSCJ offering information technology course

Students may be eligible for a paid internship and possible employment at Citizens.

Citizens Property Insurance Corp., in partnership with Florida State College at Jacksonville, is offering an information technology course designed to meet the requirements of Citizens in particular and the insurance industry in general.

The curriculum is related to application development and information technology security and risk.

Students enrolled in the program may be eligible for a paid internship and possible employment at Citizens.

The initial offering is intended to identify outside talent. A later phase is being planned that could extend opportunities to Citizens employees.

Classes begin March 31. The deadline to apply for enrollment is March 24.

Headquartered in the TIAA Bank building Downtown, Citizens is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt government entity that provides insurance protection to Florida property owners who are entitled to but are unable to find insurance coverage in the private market.

Citizens has more than 900 employees in its Jacksonville office. More than 200 work in its systems and operations division that manages the company’s information technology.
