Southeastern Grocers is launching a program to help address the nationwide coin shortage while helping those in need.

Starting July 24, it will launch SEG Positive Change Round Up Campaign to encourage customers to round up their bill at checkout, a news release said. The extra change will be collected electronically and donated to the featured nonprofit group.

“At Southeastern Grocers, we are working diligently to make a difference in the communities we serve and we are committed to protecting the health and safety of our associates, customers and neighbors as the country continues to navigate the effects of COVID-19,” said President and CEO Anthony Hucker in the release.

“While the nation’s shortage of coins is unexpected, we see this as another opportunity to once again help our neighbors in need and grow stronger together,” he said.

Charitable partners for the program include Feeding America, the American Heart Association, American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society.

The program will continue through the end of the year. All Bi-Lo, Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie stores will participate.
