Three years after the deal started, Wawa Inc. has permits to build a gas station and convenience store at 1004 Edgewood Ave. N. in the Paxon area of Northwest Jacksonville.
The city issued permits Dec. 18 for iConstructors LLC of Tampa to build the station, gas canopy and dumpster enclosure at a combined cost of $941,750.
Wawa will develop the 5,636-square-foot station on 1.29 acres at northwest Edgewood and Commonwealth avenues.
Brightwork Real Estate, which is a Wawa developer, bought the site in December 2017 through BW Edgewood Commonwealth LLC.
Brightwork paid $730,000 for the site. Centennial Bank of Conway, Arkansas, issued a mortgage of $1.6 million.
The city issued a permit in March 2018 to demolish the former bank on the site.
The Pennsylvania-based chain has dozens of stores open or planned in Northeast Florida.
It opened its first stores in Duval and Clay counties in December 2017.
