Update: St. Johns River Ferry back in service Thursday

Service resumes at 6 a.m. at Mayport Village.

The St. Johns River Ferry reopened Thursday afternoon after halting service because of Hurricane Dorian.

Jacksonville Transportation Authority spokesman David Cawton said ferry will be free Thursday until it closes at 7 p.m.

Normal operations resume Friday.

The St. Johns River Ferry is open daily.

Service is Monday through Friday, beginning at 6 a.m. in Mayport Village and 6:30 a.m. at Fort George Island.

Service continues with departures every hour and half-hour through 7 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday service is 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
