A delegation of JAXUSA Partnership and JAX Chamber officials will hold 14 meetings this week with unnamed companies and organizations during the Chamber’s annual trip to London.
The delegation left Jacksonville on Sunday and scheduled meetings Monday through Friday, according to a schedule provided by the chamber.
City Public Affairs Director Nikki Kimbleton confirmed Mayor Lenny Curry will travel to London this week but not with the chamber.
“We are not aware of any other city employees traveling on that trip,” she said.
JAXUSA Partnership and JAX Chamber facilitate a week of meetings for Jacksonville government and business leaders to recruit overseas companies and trade organizations to relocate or expand in Northeast Florida.
The chamber schedule lists seven delegates:
• JAX Chamber President and CEO Daniel Davis.
• JAXUSA Partnership President Aundra Wallace.
• JAX Chamber 2019 Board Chair Debbie Buckland. She is market president for BB&T.
• Florida Power & Light Co. Economic Development Manager Cathy Chambers, the former JAXUSA senior vice president of strategy and business development.
• JAXUSA Business Development and Global Cities Initiative Director John Freeman.
• JAX Chamber 2021 Chair-elect Ray Driver. He is a partner in the law firm Driver, McAfee, Hawthorne & Diebenow.
• Visit Jacksonville President and CEO Michael Corrigan. He is a former Duval County Tax Collector and a former City Council member.
Jacksonville Jaguars President Mark Lamping also will be in London on business related to Jaguars owner Shad Khan’s professional soccer team, Fulham Football Club, said Jaguars Director of Communications Amanda Holt.
“If he (Lamping) participates in any chamber events it’s likely because he’s already in town for other purposes,” Holt said.
The annual trip coincides with the Jaguars game at Wembley Stadium, considered a home game. This is the seventh season the Jaguars have played in London. In October 2015, the team announced it would continue the commitment through the 2020 NFL season with an option to extend the agreement another five years.
The JAX Chamber schedule does not provide the names of the companies or representatives that will meet with the Jacksonville delegation.
However, Davis posted a photo Tuesday on Twitter that shows the group meeting with leaders of payment technology company Worldpay Inc., which Jacksonville-based Fidelity National Information Services Inc. recently acquired for $43 billion.
Before their final meeting Friday, the delegations will take part in a Jaguars breakfast at the five-star The Ned hotel in London.
The group is scheduled to attend a soccer match Saturday between Fulham and Hull City at Cavern Cottage football stadium in Fulham, London.
The Jaguars game is the final item on the delegation’s agenda Sunday. The Jaguars play the Houston Texans at 9:30 a.m. EST.
