Bealls in the Regency area has converted into R.M. Bealls, a brand of the department store chain that focuses on “a consistent lower price.”
Bradenton-based Bealls says two stores became R.M. Bealls – the Jacksonville store at Southside Commons and a store in Deerfield Beach.
“Both have the same goal of providing clear pricing on our high-quality merchandise,” said a Bealls website explanation.
Bealls explains that Bealls Outlet is its off-price retailer and competes with T.J. Maxx and Ross. The outlet has its own buyers purchasing off-price merchandise.
In comparison, R.M. Bealls will carry the brands and styles found at the Bealls Stores, but at a lower price.
“The idea and concept have been in the works for some time. We selected the best Stores we felt will be successful with the change,” the site says.
R.M. Beall was the company founder.
To keep pricing consistent, the R.M. Bealls stores do not offer email or direct mail savings or coupons and do not accept Bealls Bucks.
“We want you to enjoy your shopping experience without having to calculate what the actual price is for a product,” the site says.
Pricing will change only when merchandise is put on clearance or a vendor changes its pricing.
The site says R.M. Bealls Stores cannot honor Bealls store pricing. “They have different pricing than we do. Theirs changes with different events, ours does not.”
R.M. Bealls accepts Bealls Florida credit cards and gift cards, but it does not honor Bealls Outlet gift cards.
The city issued a sign permit Wednesday for Rogers Sign Corp. to add R.M. to the Bealls sign at the Southside Commons store at 860 Commerce Center Drive.
