Jacksonville University is demolishing the 16,400-square-foot Brest Hall at the 2800 University Blvd. N. campus at a cost of $150,000.

Stellar Group Inc. is the contractor.

JU spokeswoman Laura Phelps said Brest Hall is a wing of the renovated Williams Hall.

“We’ve determined there is adequate space on campus to accommodate student residents in our new and newly renovated residence halls,” she said by email.

“Brest will be demolished since it is no longer needed, and we’ll continue to evaluate the best future use of that space.”

She said demolition could take about four weeks.
