CSX renovating Downtown headquarters, dispatch center

Corporation spending $4.14 million on projects.

CSX Corp. is investing another $4.14 million into its Jacksonville facilities.

The transportation company is renovating the third floor of its 500 Water St. headquarters building at a cost of $2.72 million.

The city issued two permits for Duckworth Construction Co. to renovate 41,778 square feet of space. Gresham Smith is the architect.

The Jacksonville-based transportation company has been renovating the 15-story riverfront tower.

“The renovations planned for the third floor of CSX’s headquarters building will modernize that space and will accommodate changes to the office space needs of our staff,” said spokeswoman Sheriee Bowman.

“Updates to the office and meeting spaces will maximize efficiency and create a more collaborative, better-quality work environment for teams on that floor,” she said.

The city also issued a permit for CSX Transportation to renovate its 3019 Warrington St. dispatch facility at a cost of $1.42 million. 

Duckworth Construction also is the contractor for the 11,351-square-foot project.

Bowman said the permit is for the modernization of the facility to included infrastructure improvements to flooring, lighting and HVAC systems.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
