Starting Wednesday, customers can drink while they shop at the Winn-Dixie in the Point Meadows shopping center.
Winn-Dixie parent Southeastern Grocers Inc. said Monday it will expand its WD’s Taproom concept to the store at 10915-122 Baymeadows Road.
The taproom grand opening is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Wednesday. Winn-Dixie opened its first area taproom Jan 18 at the Neptune Beach store.
The taprooms allow customers to “sip and shop” as they buy groceries or sit in the pub-style seating areas with flat-screen TVs or fill a growler to go.
The first 50 customers to arrive by 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Point Meadows store will receive a complimentary 64 oz. growler to fill and a gift card valued at $5 or $250.
Customers also have a chance to win a Yeti cooler and a $100 gift card during a free raffle.
Through Sept. 2, Winn-Dixie will donate $1 to charity partner Folds of Honor for each taproom beverage bought at the Point Meadows and Neptune Beach WD.
Attendees can also meet local craft brewers including Bold City Brewery, participate in beer trivia, hear live music by The Party Cartel, sample food and take part in other events.
The grand opening will showcase eight brews on tap from $3.50 per 16 oz. pint. Local craft brewers include Veterans United Craft Brewery, Bold City Brewery, Engine 15 Brewing Company and Cigar City Brewing.
The taproom also will feature: Growlers; five varieties of red and white wines starting at $3 for a 5-ounce glass; coffees and fountain drinks starting at $1.20; and combo meals with pints and a choice of pizza, subs, wings, pizza or ribs starting at 4.
Throughout the Labor Day weekend, craft brewer partners including Veteran’s United Brewery will be on hand from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 6 and Engine 15 Brewing Co. from noon-3 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Point Meadows store.
