Duck Donuts, the made-to-order doughnut franchise that allows customers to create their own combination of coatings, toppings and drizzles, is coming to the Shoppes at Bartram Park.
The city is reviewing a permit application for a $160,000 project to build-out 1,400 square feet of space for the shop at 13820 Old St. Augustine Road.
The duckdonuts.com site lists a shop location at 13862 Old St. Augustine Road, No. 141, on the side anchored by Publix Super Markets
Shoppes at Bartram Park is off Interstate 95. Landlord Regency Centers expects Duck Donuts to open by August.
Duck Donuts, founded in 2006, is based in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Russ DiGilio founded the business in Duck, North Carolina, on the Outer Banks.
There are 78 open franchise locations in the U.S. and Chile and more than 145 additional contracts in 26 states, according to duckdonuts.com.
The three Florida locations are in Boca Raton, Coconut Point and Estero.
Duck Donuts said in a March 11 news release that it plans to open 24 stores this year.
Duck Donuts says it specializes in “Warm, Delicious and Made-To-Order!” doughnuts.
Customers start with a freshly made vanilla cake doughnut and add toppings, such as maple icing with bacon, chocolate with sprinkles and, for spring and summer, Key lime icing with graham cracker crumbs.
A seasonal citrus assortment includes lemon icing with coconut flakes and cinnamon sugar with Key lime drizzle.
There is a viewing area for customers to watch their order being made.
The shop also offers coffee, tea, doughnut breakfast sandwiches and doughnuts sundaes.
DiGilio is CEO of Duck Donuts Franchising Co. Jax Donuts LLC of Woodbridge, Virginia, is the franchisee.
