The city issued a permit Monday for construction of the 93-room TownePlace Suites by Marriott at 13741 Beach Blvd., near Hodges Boulevard.
Compass Group Inc. will build the six-story hotel next to the Hampton Inn & Suites at a construction cost of $7 million.
SNS Hotel Group Inc. owns the property. Bank OZK issued an almost $7.44 million mortgage Oct. 27.
Plans were filed for the hotel in 2016.
SNS Hotel Group is led by Kirit Patidar, who is the manager of Beaches Hospitality LLC. That group owns the Hampton Inn & Suites on the adjoining site at 13733 Beach Blvd.
