Jacksonville-based Magellan now has 75 employees.

As it grows, it is relocating to the building it bought in Baymeadows.

Camelot Logistics Solutions LLC, led by Tom and Patty Piatak, bought the three-story, 47,000-square-foot property at 8505 Baycenter Road in January for almost $1.56 million.

Camelot is the real estate holding company that bought the building for its operating company, Magellan Transport Logistics.

CEO Tom Piatak said Magellan is remodeling 28,000 square feet of space and plans to move there in October.

Magellan will take the first floor of the office building and the adjacent single-story structure comprising office, data center and warehouse space.

It’s a significant expansion for the company, which now occupies about 6,500 square feet at 2511 St. Johns Bluff Road, No. 107, in Southside.

Magellan is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business designated by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Piatak is a 1987 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and served five years in the Army Corps of Engineers, deployed in the Gulf War.

Magellan offers comprehensive transportation services, including truckload, less-than-truckload, intermodal and other services. Its divisions comprise education, food and beverage, government, manufacturing and retail.

It is adding account management, sales, finance and accounting and some general management positions.

Piatak said Magellan’s growth strategy is to diversify services, target specific industries that are more prone to need and use its services, and create a corporate culture that enables all employees to be an entrepreneur “and create value for themselves and the company.”

Piatak launched Magellan as part of a private equity investment with Allied Capital and then bought the company in 2009.

He anticipates sales of about $100 million this year, up 80 percent over the year.

TSYS also leasing at Baycenter Road

Magellan Transport Logistics Inc. CEO Tom Piatak said a tenant continues to lease the remaining 19,000 square feet of the building it owns at 8505 Baycenter Road.

TSYS, a Columbus, Georgia-based payments company, recently acquired iMobile3, which operates on the top two floors of the three-story building.

TSYS spokeswoman Emily Edmonds, vice president of corporate communications, said iMobile3 employs about 150 people at the site.

TSYS Acquiring Solutions LLC applied for a certificate of use to perform financial transactions processing, reserve and clearinghouse activities at the address.

Edmonds said the iMobile3 name remains intact.

“We will continue to invest in the iM3 products and platform to ensure that iMobile3 is meeting the needs of all their partners,” she said.

She said TSYS will continue to reinforce iMobile3’s strategy of providing white labeled products to partners who can brand the products as they like “to further their own brand and merchant relationships.”

On June 7, TSYS announced it acquired iMobile3, which traces its history to formation in 2009 as software developer Chilly Primitive LLC by Bob Leonard, Brian Gentry and Matt Bishop.

The name changed in 2011 to iMobile3.

TSYS describes itself as a leading global payments solutions provider serving issuers, merchants and consumers. And iMobile3 is described as a provider of private-labeled, small business solutions within the payments industry that offers customizable payment solutions including mobile and tablet point-of-sale products, integrated with value-added services.

“The acquisition of iMobile3 continues to propel TSYS forward to reach our goal of becoming the number one payments solutions provider to small and medium-size businesses in the U.S.,” said Philip   McHugh, TSYS senior executive vice president and president of merchant solutions.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

TSYS employs about 12,000 team members and local offices across 13 countries. It generated revenue of $4.9 billion last year while processing more than 27.8 billion transactions.
