As it remodels, Aldi Inc. will need to close its 9041 Southside Blvd. store but intends to re-open in the winter.
The Germany-based discount grocer said it was too early to share details about the grand re-opening date but would announce that – and when it will close – when information was available.
Aldi said it is investing $1.9 billion to remodel and expand more than 1,300 U.S. stores by the end of 2020.
The Southside Square store was the first Aldi opened in Jacksonville in 2015 and one of the first in Northeast Florida.
Aldi wants to renovate the 21,089-square-foot grocery store at a cost of $900,000.
Aldi has 11 confirmed sites in Duval, Clay and Nassau counties and six are open.
It operates almost 1,800 stores in 35 states.
