Woody’s Bar-B-Q announced that Woody Mills, president and CEO of the company, will remain CEO and serve as chairman of the board, while co-founder and Chief Operations Officer Yolanda Mills-Mawman becomes president.

Mills and Mills-Mawman opened their first Woody’s Bar-B-Q in 1980 and have grown the brand to 24 locations.

“I’m not going anywhere,” Mills said. He will shift his focus from day-to-day operations to the future through franchise development and scouting new locations.

He also said he would “take advantage of some free time to work on my golf swing.”

Mills-Mawman plans to launch a new company website, unveil a new menu and release several limited time offers during 2017.

She said the company will put more emphasis on social media and recently launched a mobile app.

JaxPort importing new Alfa Romeo line

JaxPort reported it is the Southeast distribution point for the Alfa Romeo Giulia, the FCA US LLC new premium mid-size sedan manufactured in Italy.

The vehicles are transported to JaxPort by Grimaldi Lines. APS Stevedoring handles the offloading and the vehicles are processed at JaxPort by Amports. The first shipments of Giulia sedans began earlier this year and were processed for immediate delivery to dealerships.

Kremser becomes chief strategist at Acosta

Jacksonville-based Acosta, a full-service sales and marketing agency in the consumer packaged goods industry, named Steve Kremser as chief strategy and transformation officer.

Kremser, who reports to president and CEO Steve Matthesen, is responsible for the planning and execution of Acosta’s overall strategy and corporate development.

He spent nearly two decades with the Boston Consulting Group, where he was partner for 10 years, leading the company’s West Coast consumer and retail team.

Two elected to Baptist Health board

Jacksonville-based Baptist Health announced the election of a new chair and vice chair of its board of directors.

Richard Sisisky will chair the board. He joined the Baptist Jacksonville board in 2002 and the Baptist Health board in 2007. He also chairs the “Securing Tomorrow Together” comprehensive campaign for Baptist Health.

Sisisky is president of The Shircliff and Sisisky Co., a management consulting firm based in Jacksonville.

Michael Grebe was named vice chair of the board, which he joined in 2012. He also serves on the Baptist Health Foundation board of trustees.

Grebe formerly was CEO of Interline Brands and currently is an advisory director to Berkshire Partners. He previously served on the board of the Jacksonville Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.

Baptist South elects 2 board members

Baptist Medical Center South’s board elected two new members – Mark Dawkins and Micah Heavener. Dawkins is the dean and Distinguished Professor for Excellence of the Coggin College of Business at the University of North Florida. Heavener is managing director of Global Operations and Technology for Citi.

FSCJ lands FAA OK for pilot certificate

Florida State College at Jacksonville announced it is now authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration to certify graduates of the Associate in Science in Professional Pilot Technology program with the Airline Transport Pilot certification at a reduced number of flight hours.

Through FSCJ’s A.S. in Professional Pilot Technology, students interested in flying for the airlines can earn a 250-hour discount toward the 1,500 hours of flight time required to be eligible for the ATP certification, the highest-level FAA-issued certificate.

Program Manager Sam Fischer said that using a specialized combination of classroom curriculum, simulator training and flight line experience, the associate degree “expertly prepares students to be skilled, confident pilots.”

Also, the FAA authorization reduces the age requirement for the ATP for FSCJ graduates to 21 years instead of 23 years, helping students launch their careers two years earlier.

Baldwin new COO of JAX Refrigeration

Scott Baldwin has become chief operating officer of Jacksonville-based JAX Refrigeration, which provides engineering, design, installation and maintenance of industrial and commercial refrigeration, HVAC and mechanical systems. Baldwin will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the company. He spent the past 25 years as vice president at Stellar’s Food Group. He graduated from the University of North Florida’s construction program in 1992 and earned an MBA from Jacksonville University.

Brewer named Administrative Assistant of the Year

The First Coast Administrative Professionals Inc. named Suellen Brewer, executive assistant to Eric Mann, president and CEO at YMCA of Florida’s First Coast, as the 2017 Administrative Assistant of the Year. The award was made in celebration of Administrative Professionals Day.
