SBA presents Small Business Week awards

Founders of Barefoot Wine to deliver keynote address at luncheon Thursday

Four Northeast Florida business executives will be awarded Small Business Week recognition Thursday at the 25th annual Small Business Week Celebration luncheon at the University of North Florida Adam W. Herbert University Center.

Receiving awards will be:

•?Hanan Hamed-Furgan, THREEZ Company president and CEO, North Florida District and State Minority Owned Small Business Person of the Year.

•?James Boyd Stallings, managing partner of PS27 Ventures, North Florida District Small Business Advocate of the Year.

•?Janice Bounds, CBC National Bank vice president of SBA Lending, North Florida District Small Business Financial Advocate of the Year.

•?Andrew “Andy” Harold, president of A. Harold and Associates, North Florida, State and Regional IV 8(a) Graduate of the Year.

The U.S. Small Business Administration also will recognize North Florida’s top SBA lenders with awards for significant participation in the 7(a) and 504 Loan programs.

The event will be presented by the Small Business Development Center at UNF with support from The Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship.

Bonnie Harvey and Michael Houlihan, founders of Barefoot Wine and best-selling authors of “The Barefoot Spirit,” will provide the keynote address on “The Entrepreneurial Culture, How to Engage and Empower Your People.”

Barefoot Wine started in the laundry room of a rented farmhouse.

Houlihan and Harvey lacked money and industry knowledge, instead using innovation and a positive company culture to build one of the top commercial brands in the country.
