Ronnie King, chair of the Jacksonville Public Library Board of Trustees, and Jacksonville Jaguars Roar cheerleader Alison Powers unveiled the poster for the annual “Jax Reads” Wednesday at the Main Library Downtown. Powers, who is from Taiwan, and Roar cheerleader Cynthia Blanco, who’s from Colombia, are featured on the poster because this year’s book selection, “The Namesake” by Jhumpa Lahiri, is the story of a family that immigrates to America from India. “It truly illuminates the immigrant experience. There are important issues in this book,” said library Director Barbara Gubbin. Everyone is encouraged to check out the book, read it and then share their experience with family and friends, she added. Jax Reads continues through March 11.
