Ikea’s steel frame is up at its 7801 Gate Parkway store and now contractors are installing its skin of 517 blue wall panels. Three were up as of Thursday. The company’s bright blue-and-yellow theme represents the colors of its Swedish homeland's flag. The panel installation is a milestone for the home furnishings store, keeping it on schedule for a fall opening. When completed, a walk through the 290,000-square-foot structure, following the retail paths, will be two-thirds of a mile. Ikea will post jobs soon for 250 positions. The building will feature 50 room settings, three model home interiors, a children’s play area, a warehouse with two rows accessible for customer pick-up, and a 325-seat restaurant, among other features.
