The Jacksonville Bar Association basketball league is back in action after taking a timeout for a few years.

Five teams are participating this season, with some familiar faces from seasons past as well as some first-time players.

The league comprises teams from Akerman, the State Attorney’s Office, the Public Defender’s Office, Heekin, Malin & Wenzel and a “free agents” squad of attorneys from several firms.

Scoring has been consistently higher this season than in years past and all the players are enjoying the camaraderie. The competition is fierce (we are attorneys after all), but friendly and professional.

There will be a “mini” season in winter 2017, so if you have been thinking of playing, but just haven’t taken the initiative, please plan to join us.

I can confirm from personal experience that you do not have to be a great player –– or even marginally competent –– to participate and enjoy the competition.
