Annual Law Week poster contest ends Wednesday
If you’re at the Duval County Courthouse, be sure to see what Miranda v. Arizona means to students from West Riverside Elementary School. Their posters are on exhibit on the ground floor near the staircase. Cast your vote by Wednesday to determine which students will receive prizes for their artwork.
Young Lawyers Section seeks
board of governors candidates
Elections for the Young Lawyers Section board of governors will be conducted online May 30-June 8.
Ballots also may be cast June 9 at the section’s annual meeting at 927 Events at 927 W. Forsyth St.
Association members who are 35 or younger as of July 1 or have been admitted to practice law for less than five years are eligible to run for a seat.
The seats up for election are: Seat 1, open for a one-year term; Seat 2, two-year term with incumbent John Wallace; Seat 4, a two-year term with incumbent Alessandro Apolito; Seat 5, open for a one-year term; and Seat 6, open for a two-year term.
If you wish to be placed on the ballot, you must e-mail [email protected] no later than 5 p.m. May 23, indicating the seat for which you are running.

Brady training on CD and DVD
There still is time for felony criminal law attorneys to comply with the new minimum standard prescribed under Rule 3.113 effective May 16 (Brady training). Audio CD or DVD copies of the program are available from the association.

Sign up today for the kickball league
The JBA Kickball League will begin May 25 and play a six-week season plus two weeks of playoffs. Games will be at St. Nicholas Park at 6 and 7 p.m. Wednesdays. The league is open to attorneys, staff and spouses. Cost per team is $250 and each team is permitted two ringers at $25 per ringer. Email John Weedon at [email protected] to register your team.
