Legal notes: Pimental honored by National Association of Legal Administrators

Jean Pimental was named Region 2 volunteer of the year by the National Association of Legal Administrators.

She works for the Office of General Counsel.

Pimental has been president of the association twice and has held every board position, except treasurer. In addition, she has led every committee within the chapter during her more than 16 years as a member.

Scott names Poitier to Elections Commission

Gov. Rick Scott appointed Joni Poitier, an attorney with Moseley, Prichard, Parrish, Knight and Jones, to the Florida Elections Commission.

Poitier, 35, is a member of the Jacksonville Civil Service Board.

She received her bachelor’s degree from Spelman College and her law degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law.

The appointment, which runs through Dec. 31, 2019, must be confirmed by the Florida Senate.

Applicants sought for Bar committee spot

The Florida Bar’s Board of Governor is seeking applicants for a two-year term on the Supreme Court’s Bar Admissions Committee.

The group coordinates the work of the bench, Bar, law schools and Bar examiners. It also makes recommendations to the court.

The term would begin July 1.

The application form is available at floridabar.org or by calling Bar headquarters at (850) 561-5757.

Deadline to apply is Feb. 26. The board will vote on the vacancy at its March meeting.
