Legal notes: Jacob Brown of Akerman appointed to 4th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission

Akerman partner Jacob Brown was among Gov. Rick Scott’s 43 appointees for 20 judicial nominating commissions.

Brown was appointed to the 4th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission for a term through July 1, 2019. He is a member of the firm’s Bankruptcy and Reorganization Practice Group.

Brown practices primarily in bankruptcy, commercial litigation and business law representing secured and unsecured creditors, committees, trustees and debtors. He works in the Jacksonville office.

Prior to private practice, Brown clerked for U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Jerry A. Funk for the Middle District of Florida.

Feb. 12 is deadline for Ehrlich nominations

Nominations are being sought for the annual Raymond Ehrlich Trial Advocacy Award to be presented at the Feb. 25 seminar.

The Award Committee will evaluate applicants based on the qualities that made the former Florida Supreme Court justice a role model.

Nominees should exemplify professionalism, ethical commitment, professional competency and dedication to creating a positive impression of the legal community on the world at large.
