The clock is ticking for The University Club of Jacksonville.
Saturday, contents of club and its two fitness centers will be auctioned starting at 11:11 a.m. in Riverplace Tower on the Southbank.
The private club will close Dec. 20. It occupies the 27th floor of the tower at 1301 Riverplace Blvd., while a small athletic facility operated on the 28th floor and there’s a fitness center on the ground floor.
The fitness centers closed Wednesday.
Artwork, furniture, commercial laundry equipment, electronics, fitness equipment and more will be sold. They can be viewed online at beasleyauctioneers.com.
More than 130 photos are posted of the items to be auctioned.
Auctioneer Luman Beasley said buyers can take the fitness equipment Saturday, Sunday and Monday, but the club contents can’t be removed until Dec. 19.
All must go by Dec. 27 because that’s when the club must be out of the building, he said.
Bidders can preview The University Club items on-site at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Buyers also can bid online Saturday at LiveAuctioneers.com.
Beasley said he can be reached at (904) 631-1886 to answer questions.
The club will close after 48 years because of what owner ClubCorp Group called a business decision.
Riverplace Tower leasing agent Kaycee Gardner with JLL said Thursday that the landlord will have a fitness center in the 50-year-old riverfront office building, which was sold Tuesday for $54.3 million.
Lingerfelt CommonWealth Partners LLC will continue to operate the property, while Lingerfelt’s Commonwealth Commercial Partners property management affiliate will handle day-to-day asset and property management.
Gardner said in September the club’s departure from the top two floors of the building would make it available for premier office space.
