It was a double bill Tuesday at the monthly meeting of The Jacksonville Bar Association: A visit from Florida Bar President Ramon Abadin and two JBA members received the Diversity Champion Award.

Abadin and JBA President Giselle Carson conducted a “fireside chat,” complete with a digital fireplace.

That was fitting because Abadin’s focus during his term as president is how the legal profession must use technology to be competitive and better serve clients.

The two also discussed the importance of equal access to justice for everyone, regardless of income, as well as ethics, professionalism and values.

Attorneys Leslie Scott Jean-Bart and Joe Camerlengo, a former JBA president, both received the Diversity Champion Award in recognition of their commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.

The next member luncheon is noon April 22 at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront.

Mayor Lenny Curry has been invited to attend.
