Prominent local attorneys educated their peers at an environmental and real estate law seminar Wednesday.

The well-attended four-hour continuing legal education event was hosted by The Jacksonville Bar Association Environmental and Real Property Law Committee, co-chaired by Leah Walker and Jamie Karpman.

Speakers and their topics were:

• Environmental law attorneys William Finger and Kristina Nelson of Finger, Nelson & Maguire, discussed Florida Brownfields Redevelopment

• Michael Altes, underwriting counsel for First American Title Insurance Co., talked about related title concerns

• Attorney Stacy Watson May, of Holland & Knight, addressed how to overcome environmental issues in real estate transactions

• Cindy Laquidara, of Akerman and former general counsel for the City of Jacksonville, educated attendees about working with local governments and Florida Sunshine laws.
