Mayor-elect Lenny Curry announced Thursday the group that will review qualifications and applicants for the city’s next general counsel.
The five-member group comprises attorneys, three of whom are former city general counsels. They are:
• Mary Bland Love of Marks Gray, who is serving as the designee of The Jacksonville Bar Association.
• Fred Franklin, Rogers Towers managing partner and former general counsel.
• Rick Mullaney, director of the Public Policy Institute at Jacksonville University and former general counsel.
• Michael Tanner, principal of the Tanner Bishop firm.
• John Delaney, University of North Florida president and former mayor and general counsel. He will chair the committee.
The recent voter-approved amendment to the charter calls for the appointment of a committee to recommend selection of the city’s chief legal officer.
The group’s recommendation is expected to be made after July 1.
