How did you become involved?
I started coaching at Hendricks Avenue Baseball league when my son started playing T-ball at the age of 4. He has continued playing at the league and I have continued to volunteer as an assistant coach and to help perform park maintenance and improvements.
How can someone else become involved?
Bring your son or daughter to the park and agree to help coach their team. We are always looking for parents to help assist with coaching, park improvements and the concession stand. Feel free to email me at [email protected] or you can contact another Jacksonville Bar Association member, Douglas Oberdorfer, at [email protected], if you are interested in the league.
What have you learned/achieved through this experience?
It takes a team to truly succeed. Also, it is still fun to get dirty and play with your friends, even in middle age.
What is the last book you read or are reading?
“Cuba Straits” by Randy Wayne White
