The firm handling the liquidation of Body Central Corp. will hold a live and online auction of its equipment and inventory at the company’s former headquarters March 10.

Jacksonville-based Body Central went out of business last month, entering into an Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors with Michael Moecker & Associates, a Hollywood, Fla., workout firm.

Moecker Auctions Inc. will be auctioning off items including IT equipment, vehicles and office furniture not only from Body Central’s headquarters but also from some of its closed stores. All of the items have been relocated to the former headquarters office at 6225 Powers Ave. for the auction.

Clothing and accessories are not part of the auction process and are being sold separately, Moecker said.

The firm said the fair market value of the items in the auction is more than $10 million.

Body Central was started in Jacksonville in 1973 and had 265 retail fashion stores when it shut down. The company had lost money for six consecutive quarters and was experiencing severe liquidity problems, and was unable to reach an agreement with its creditors to be able to stay in business.
