Mayor Lenny Curry has appointed G. Alan Howard to the JEA board, completing a near-sweep of the public utility’s guiding body.
Howard is the founder and president of Milam Howard Nicandri Deez & Gillam. He’s a transactional attorney whose practice focuses on mergers, acquisitions, project and corporate finance, and securities.
Before establishing the firm in 2000, Howard served in counsel leadership capacities at Akerman and HomeSide Lending Inc.
In a news release, Curry said the board will “benefit greatly” from Howard’s experience.
Howard is a member of the American Bar Association, The Jacksonville Bar Association and Florida Bar, where he serves as chair of the Business Law Section. He’s lived in Jacksonville for more than 20 years.
He’s the sixth JEA board replacement Curry has made since taking office July 1. The decisions came after a series of Florida Times reports about the board’s transparency.
