A Shipyards redevelopment plan could be selected before the start of May.

A three-person evaluation committee briefly met Thursday to go over the next steps for selecting a project for the Downtown riverfront site.

The group consists of Downtown Investment Authority CEO Aundra Wallace, DIA board member Jack Meeks and Ted Carter, Office of Economic Development executive director for the city.

Meeks and Carter will grade the three proposals over the next week and submit them to the city’s Procurement Department by next Friday.

The three-pronged scoring matrix weighs the makeup and competence of the development team, the plan itself and the financial capacity to do the project.

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan’s mixed-use vision, Shitaki Enterprises’ marina and festival space plans and a Christian-themed development featuring a replica Noah's Ark concept were submitted to the city before Wednesday’s deadline.

The top-rated project will be submitted to the full DIA board as the committee’s top choice and could be voted at the regularly scheduled April 30 meeting.
