Public Defender Matt Shirk announced the appointment of three assistant public defenders to serve in the Duval County office.
William Donley II joins the County Court unit, where he will handle misdemeanors. For the past four months, Donley has volunteered in a similar capacity. He graduated last year from the Florida A&M University College of Law in Orlando. As a law student, he interned with the local public defender and legal aid organization. Before going to law school, Donley was a computer programmer for four years. A 2004 graduate of FAMU, Donley is a native of Miami. His wife is a student adviser at Florida Coast School of Law.
Jason Love joined the office’s juvenile unit. He has served as a volunteer attorney since August. Love was admitted to The Florida Bar in March following his 2012 graduation from Florida State University School of Law. Love also spent a year as a deputy clerk in the Duval County Courthouse. He is a native of Jacksonville and graduated from the University of Florida in 2008 with a degree in political science.
Christina Tatum, who has been a volunteer with the office for three years, has joined the County Court unit. Before that, she worked at Florida Coastal School of Law as a seasonal recruiter. The 2012 Florida Coastal graduate earned pro bono honors, won the Guardian Ad Litem award, was director of student ambassadors and created a library program for teenagers at Impact House. She earned her bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of West Georgia in 2008. She and her husband, Tyler, live in Jacksonville Beach.
