JAX Chamber President and CEO Daniel Davis announced Tuesday that Alan Mosley is joining the leadership team as vice president of transportation, energy and logistics.
In this role, Mosley will be executive director of the North Florida Transportation Business Alliance, which will advocate for and advance regional transportation and logistics projects that benefit the area’s economy and help local businesses.
He joins the chamber from RS&H, a consulting firm where he led strategic market initiatives for the transportation and infrastructure practice. He is a former District 2 Secretary for the Florida Department of Transportation, overseeing a 19-county territory in North Florida that includes Jacksonville and managing a $3 billion, five-year work program across all modes of transportation.
Mosley also previously served as chief administrative officer under former Jacksonville Mayor John Peyton and is a former director of public works.
Mosley is a Jacksonville University graduate, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management, and previously served on the board of the Jacksonville Transportation Authority. He is married with three children and lives in Jacksonville’s San Jose area.
McCoy is new executive director for Prisoners of Christ
Steve McCoy has taken over the role of executive director of Prisoners of Christ following the retirement of Dan Palmer.
McCoy brings more than 25 years of experience to the organization, which is a faith-based program designed to assist men coming out of prison and back to civilian life.
McCoy launched the first all-volunteer faith-based dormitory at Lawtey Correctional Institute, whose effectiveness led the prison to becoming the first faith-based and character building institution in the country.
McCoy comes to Prisoners of Christ after serving 35 years as a pastor.

Vitti to receive achievement award from teachers' sorority
The National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa has selected Duval County Schools Superintendent Nikolai Vitti to receive its lifetime achievement award.
Phi Delta Kappa is an international sorority and professional organization of teachers.
In addition to receiving the award, Vitti will serve as keynote speaker at the annual Phi Delta Kappa Black History Month Program at at 6 p.m. Saturday at Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
Newby reappointed to faith-based board
Gov. Rick Scott reappointed Cherron Newby, 53, of Jacksonville, to the Florida Faith-Based and Community-Based Advisory Council. Newby is the owner of CC Consulting & Training.
The governor also reappointed Alan C. Dimmitt, MPA, 42, of Bonita Springs, and appointed Pam Olsen, 58, of Tallahassee.
Their terms end July 18, 2017.
JTA honors African-American pioneers
One of the ways the Jacksonville Transportation Authority is celebrating Black History Month is by showcasing a bus wrap commemorating the contributions of African-American inventors and pioneers in transportation. Customers were invited to view the bus and informational boards, speak with JTA representatives and enjoy refreshments during a ceremony at the Rosa Parks Transit Station.
“Today we honor the African-Americans who have shaped and contributed to our nation’s extraordinary transportation infrastructure and systems; those who dared to dream and branch out to explore uncharted territories in the transportation industry,” said JTA CEO Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. “Our great nation is what it is today because of the collective accomplishments of all Americans.”
Stellar hires two marketers and two business developers
Stellar, a fully integrated firm focused on design, engineering, construction and mechanical services worldwide, has hired four new employees, including two marketers and two business developers.
• Justin Bridegan was hired as a marketing manager and will oversee worldwide marketing efforts, including lead generation, social media, web optimization and vendor relations. He has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and more than 10 years of professional marketing experience.
• Kristen Greene joins the firm as a marketing assistant and will provide marketing support, including presentations, event coordination and graphic design. She is a recent graduate of Elon University, with a bachelor’s degree in strategic communications.
• Bernie Johnson was hired as a business developer to develop and manage customer business relationships with thermal roofing clients. He has more than 25 years’ experience in construction sales and marketing and has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of South Florida.
• Kirk Wendland is the director of business development, in which he will develop and maintain relationships with regional businesses and organizations to create new project opportunities for Stellar. Wendland was a former president of the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission.
