More than 800 people ate lunch Thursday at the Osborn Center during the 27th Anniversary Celebrity Chefs Tasting Luncheon and Silent Auction.

The annual event is the major fundraiser of the year for the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary and has raised more than $1.6 million in the past 26 years.

Proceeds benefit programs at the Salvation Army Child Development Center, the Towers Memorial Social Services Center and the Salvation Army Senior Center and Adult Rehabilitation Center.

Local business leaders and media celebrities prepared their favorite recipes, which were served to guests after bids were closed in the silent auction.
