Helping people and organizing schedules and events are what make her job enjoyable, said Ella Fullerton, the concierge at Wells Fargo Center.
Being the concierge at one of Downtown’s Class A office towers is not what most people think of when they hear the job title.
“I don’t have to make dinner reservations or find theater tickets for people,” said Fullerton.
She’s in charge of greeting people who work in and visit the building. Fullerton spends much of her time at the security desk in the atrium, which is appropriate because Fullerton is employed by First Coast Security.
“My job is to make everyone’s visit to Wells Fargo Center as pleasant as it can be,” she said.
The location of her desk, in the middle of Downtown’s only indoor park, is one of the job’s perks.
“I have a beautiful office. I even have fountains,” Fullerton said.
Scheduling access to Wells Fargo Center’s meeting rooms and auditorium is part of the job. So is planning events.
Fullerton said her next big production is 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Feb. 10, when the building will host a Valentine’s Expo. She has signed up vendors including a florist, a cosmetics company and sellers of greeting cards, cookies and candy. Also scheduled is a chocolate fountain from Peterbrooke Chocolatier.
Fullerton and her husband, who works for a Downtown property management company, live in San Marco. She said one of the best parts of her day is driving to work over the Main Street Bridge and enjoying the view of the Northbank skyline and Wells Fargo Center.
“I just have to make sure I pay attention to driving,” she said.
