What began as a one-night First Wednesday Art Walk experiment on West Adams Street has become Downtown’s newest boutique and gallery.
Tuesday morning, Rayna Reichstadter was arranging a display of merchandise on the sidewalk outside her new “Whistling Princess.” It’s next door to Chew restaurant and near Jacksonville Area Legal Aid.
The store sells clothing, vintage and handmade jewelry, scarves, refurbished furniture and other items crafted by local artisans.
“There are so many creative people who need an outlet to present what they do. Now there’s a place for them to show their work,” she said
Reichstadter’s husband, Richard, manages the W.A. Knight Lofts. He said the store will be a place for Downtown’s creative businesses to exhibit and sell their work and the couple is offering holiday window decorating services for businesses in the neighborhood.
They also are planning a vegan dinner for the December Art Walk.
“We feel the energy of Adams Street. We’re letting the universe choose for us,” he said.
