For many patrons of First Wednesday’s Art Walk, the monthly event turned into a giant mustache party.
Facial hair was in full display because the theme of the month was “Movember,” a month dedicated to men’s health, specifically prostate cancer, often signified with the growing of a mustache to increase awareness and raise funds.
Hemming Plaza and The Carling were two of the locations where the cause could be seen, with volunteers helping Art Walkers celebrate the month by making paper mustaches to wear during the night.
Volunteer Sparky Dray said the local faction of the nationwide charity raised $1,300 two years ago but increased that to $15,000 last year as more people became aware of the cause.
This year he said the goal, as always, is to raise as much as possible for the cause.
The next First Wednesday Art Walk will be Dec. 7.
