Here are the winners of the 2004 Neighborhood Awards presented recently by Riverside Avondale Preservation:
Home Renovation of the Year: The small-scale renovation was awarded to Larry and Gunilla Craven for their renovation of a one-story bungalow located at 2676 College Street in Riverside. The large-scale renovation was awarded to Melaine Taylor and Kristie Harris for their renovation of the two-story red brick home located at 1805 Osceola Street in St. John’s Quarter.
Business Renovation of the Year: Bob and Linda Waln for the renovation of the Riverdale Inn located at 1521 Riverside Avenue in Riverside.
Multi-family Renovation of the Year: Frank Rossi and Bernadette Moran for the renovation of the six-unit apartment building located at 2619 Acosta Street in Riverside.
Neighborhood Business Leader of the Year: Tina Musico, owner of the Inn at Oak Street, for her leadership on the first annual Riverside-Avondale Bed and Breakfast Tour.
Local Architect of the Year: Jim Kolb with Gresham, Smith and Partners for his design of the recently opened three-story, red brick St. Vincent’s Family Medical Center located at 2627 Riverside Avenue in Riverside.
Neighborhood Advocate of the Year: Bonnie Patterson for her years of service as chair of RAP’s design review committee.
Lifetime Preservation Achievement Award: Jerry Spinks for his work renovating both the Jacksonville Historical Society’s Merrill House located at 317 A. Phillip Randloph Boulevard and RAP’s Buckland House located 2623 Herschel Street in Riverside.
