The city issued a permit for construction March 19 of a Walmart Health clinic at the retailer’s Southwest Jacksonville Supercenter in Collins Plaza.
The Collins Road center is one of five area Walmart clinics in review for construction.
Walmart wants to open seven in Northeast Florida.
Golden & Associates Construction LLC of Birmingham, Alabama, is the contractor for the $900,000 construction of a 6,495-square-foot clinic that will be an expansion of the Supercenter at 7075 Collins Road.
Walmart Health offers primary care, urgent care, dental and lab services, imaging, counseling, and optical and hearing services.
In addition to Collins Plaza, Bentonville, Arkansas-based Walmart intends to build clinics at 6830 Normandy Blvd., 11900 Atlantic Blvd., 4250 Philips Highway and in Middleburg.
Walmart announced Sept. 17 in a blog post it would build seven Walmart Health centers in Jacksonville, with the first opening in early 2021. Walmart opened its first center in September 2019 in Dallas, Georgia.
