Tractor Supply Co., with seven stores operating in the area, is building its eighth Northeast Florida location in West Jacksonville.
The city approved a permit April 25 for a Tractor Supply store on 3.6 acres at 8984 Normandy Blvd. at $1.8 million.
The site is near Hammond Boulevard and Herlong Road, west of Interstate 295.
Fulcrum Construction Group of Daphne, Alabama, is the contractor. Cyntergy LLC of Tulsa, Oklahoma, is the architect.
Tractor Supply intends to build a 22,732-square-foot store with another almost 17,000 square feet of unenclosed space.
Tractor Supply also intends to build a greenhouse at the site.
Hix Snedeker Companies, also of Daphne, is shown as the property owner through HSC Jacksonville West LLC.
Tractor Supply Co.’s tagline is “the stuff you need out here.”
The tractorsupply.com site shows that it operates in Northeast Florida along St. Johns Bluff Road South in Sandalwood, New Kings Road in Northwest Jacksonville and in Macclenny, Orange Park, Saint Johns, St. Augustine and Yulee.
The company, based in Brentwood, Tennessee, operated 2,003 Tractor Supply stores in 49 states, as of Dec. 25. It was founded more than 80 years ago.
It calls itself the largest rural lifestyle retailer in the United States and a one-stop shop for recreational farmers, ranchers and others.
It sells products for the home, land, pets and animals.
Tractor Supply announced that new and remodeled stores would make better use of their indoor space and use their outdoor “side lots” as an outside garden, feed and farm shopping center.
It also wants to expand its buy-online-pickup-in-store capabilities.
