The Bread & Board announced April 27 it would open The Bread & Burger, another aspect of its project at the Downtown VyStar Credit Union headquarters.
The restaurant will be in the breezeway that runs from the 100 W. Bay St. building to Independent Drive, the news release said.
It will focus on specialty burgers, fries and milkshakes. The news release said an alcohol menu would be added for happy hours this summer.
Menu offerings include beef burgers, turkey burgers, crispy chicken breast sandwiches, spiced lentil patty burgers, kosher corn dogs and several varieties of french fries.
The Bread & Burger is expected to open this spring.
The Bread & Board also is building-out a restaurant and marketplace on the ground floor of the West Bay Street building, along with a rooftop Mexican restaurant, Estrella Cocina. The rooftop space, which will serve Baja-inspired Mexican cuisine and tequilas, is set to open May 1.
“The breezeway offers a natural extension from The Bread & Board and Provisions Marketplace space on the ground floor of 100 West Bay St. so we are thrilled to partner with VyStar again for this new concept. With Bread & Burger, we’ll be able to cater to more of the foot traffic in downtown with another grab-and-go or sit and mingle option in the open air,” Jonathan Cobbs, Bread & Board co-founder, said in a news release.
The restaurant will be housed in a renovated shipping container and surrounded by a raised patio. Once open, the breezeway will offer live music, games and green space.
“As we build out the VyStar Campus, we continue to think big in our efforts to create a downtown Jacksonville that can be enjoyed by everyone,” Brian Wolfburg, VyStar’s president and CEO, said in the release.
The three concepts are hiring for all positions. Resumes can be submitted to [email protected].
