The Clay County Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday approved rezoning 14.9 acres for Orange Park Medical Center Inc. to build a three-story, 60,000-square-foot medical office building to expand the medical campus.
OPMC paid $3.3 million in 2015 for the vacant property at 1775 Kingsley Ave. in Orange Park.
Application Z-19-01 sought to rezone the land from urban core residential, single-family residential and private services to community business district. The companion application 2018-15 for an amendment to the comprehensive plan also was approved.
Franklin, Tennessee-based Crunk Engineering LLC was the agent for both applications.
Chad Williams, Clay County zoning chief and development review manager, said the next steps include site plan review and approval by the development review committee before a building permit can be granted.
Hospital Corporation of America, parent of OPMC, did not respond to a call or email for comment.
